Get in TouchI spent 40 years in the high-tech industry — not studying it, living it. I held executive roles in sales, marketing, and business development at companies like Texas Instruments, Intel, and Honeywell. That's not a résumé line — it's the foundation of everything I teach.
As VP and General Manager at Terayon Communication Systems, I grew a $20M unprofitable product line into a $100M division and made Terayon the industry's second-largest cable modem vendor after Motorola. I've led multicultural teams, negotiated complex deals, and built businesses from the ground up.
Over time, clients kept asking me to help with something beyond strategy: how to communicate more powerfully — in presentations, across cultures, and in high-stakes job searches. So I expanded my practice to include exactly that. Not because I read about it. Because I'd done it.
Today I run Stu Friedman Associates, a nationally recognized executive coaching and training consultancy. I'm an instructor at Stanford Continuing Studies, a TEDx speaker, and a contributing author to Fortune Magazine and Business Insider. I've also performed standup at the San Jose Improv — which, it turns out, is not entirely unrelated to what I do for a living.
I've been a guest on WCBS Newsradio 880AM's CEO Radio program, interviewed by Forbes, BBC News, and Crain's Silicon Valley, and I've spoken at the World Affairs Council of Northern California, USC's Graduate School of Applied Psychology, and San Francisco State University's Business School.
